Starboard 4th of July Recap & Bull Run Update!

It started out with a couple of FREE shows by G. Love on Thursday night and Friday Happy Hour...then the 4th of July Weekend jumped into normal holiday mode as Saturday/Sunday crowds were jammed at The Starboard. You can read all about the G. Love show here.... In what has become an annual tradition now in its 5th year at The Starboard, G. Love played to a packed house on Thursday night, and then surprised everyone with an awesome Happy Hour show Friday from 6:30-8:30 pm!

Sunday's 4th of July Party was as crazy as any Holiday Suicide Sunday ever was! People lined up early in the morning and pounded Champagne and Crushes all afternoon while decked out in every patriotic outfit imaginable!

This entire week has remained busy for both food and drink as so many are in town on vacation for the week. I hope you are all enjoying the beautiful weather, clean ocean, and all the amenities Dewey Beach has to offer.

The Starboard's Super Bowl!

I wait as long as possible to mention this as we are already maxed out on space for the Bull Running. People have called all week asking 'how early do we need to be there?' With the addition of our Parking lot fenced in, bars and staging is all set to go for Saturday's big event. In our 15th year of this silly tradition, it's basically our Super Bowl Sunday!

Some things to take note on for this year's Run:

The Starboard opens at 8am for breakfast...9am for cocktails!
Parking Lot party begins at 10am.
We will give out plenty of Bottled Water for FREE, as it will be hot and you need to stay hydrated!
The Bull will arrive around 12noon.
Run takes place at 2pm.
Washington Capitals mascot SLAPSHOT will be on hand to add to the festivities
Ceremony begins at 1:45 w/ National Anthem by LauraLea & God Bless America by Jimmy on Bagpipes.
We will have over 1000 Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwiches available in our parking lot along with Egg/Bacon/Sausage sandwiches....please grab a sandwich as it's a long, long day!
Crossing the highway, we need everyone to get across the busy highway as quickly as possible. We will have plenty on hand to assist and speed you along. Head up to Houston Street, gather at shoreline, then Take the Beach!
When leaving the beach, we will have Port-a-potties set up for anyone needing them once you cross the dune line, PLEASE RESPECT THOSE NEIGHBORS! Last year we received complaints from a few property owners, and rightfully so. Be sure to hit a port-a-potty if needed before returning to The Starboard.
Once back to Starboard, a short bull fight will take place between Bull y Matador!
LauraLea & Tripp Fabulous will have staging set up in our parking lot as the party continues till 6:00 pm!

2011 Bull Running T-Shirts and Bandanas are being sold for donations towards our Rehoboth Beach Fire Department and Dewey Police. The funds raised this year will go towards supplies for our fire department and to help purchase a new Tahoe for our Dewey K-9 Unit...a dog was purchased for our police with funds from past years' Bull Running. Your generosity is appreciated as these people all help us in so many ways; it's our day to help them out!
Most years the donation made is roughly $7,000! Thanks for that!

In just a few short weeks, as the temperatures sit in the high 90's, we will celebrate our annual Christmas in July tradition with the guys from the Running of the Santas out of Philadelphia. Be sure to dig up some Holiday gear and join us on Saturday, July 23rd as we have bands all afternoon, games, prizes, Heineken specials, and more! Mark it down as we want to throw a bash that day!
