With the New Year's celebration falling on a weekend, it made for a fun long weekend here in Dewey. We had just enough warm weather leading into the weekend to melt some of the 16" of snow we had dumped on us earlier that week. (Though it was still tough to park with snow piled up everywhere.) Not only did we have a packed house on New Year's Eve, New Years Day has become the best tradition in town that weekend. Similar to any summer Suicide Sunday, this place was packed all day for breakfast, bloodys, and crushes. With football throughout the day on all 36 of our High Def Plasma's, then the Winter Classic that night, there was plenty to entertain you all on New Year's Day! The next big event here in Dewey is our annual Winter Gala. The Starboard joins other businesses in town to host an exciting black tie winter formal. In its 3rd year & held down at the Baycenter over the Ruddertowne, the 2011 Dewey Beach Winter Gala benefits our local lifeguards, police department, and town beautification. Funds raised from this event help the two departments purchase materials needed to provide adequate public safety in Dewey, the beautification funds will go towards clean up of things like cigarette butts, and other debris around Dewey in the summer season. The Starboard is always heavily involved in supporting the infrastructure of this town, doing our part to help out...this Gala is unique as it is a joint venture of several businesses to pitch in.
