We have been pumping up an incredible beach concert and educational fundraiser held this past week here on the beach in Dewey. Despite a little rain during the event, it was a huge success raising over $74,000 to send down to the local estuary programs in Louisiana as they battle to recover from the Gulf oil spill. Knowing any kind of tragedy could affect us on this coast any given year, people realized it was our time to help by kicking in funds and helping our sister coastline of Louisiana. Many local businesses and individuals were extremely generous in supporting this event through both volunteer time and financial donations. Hot, Hot, Hot! Thankfully The Starboard has more air conditioning than anywhere else in Dewey Beach during these hot humid and hazy days of summer. It got put to the test last weekend, as you all kept us very crowded each day and night this past weekend, while temperatures soared into the mid 90's! We add more air each year, doing all we can to keep you comfortable while out having fun!

Of course the Wings to Go Suicide Wing Eating contest is traditionally the HOTTEST day of the summer...in more ways than one. Personally, I was sweating just smelling their sauce. This year's winner ate close to 100 wings, down a bit from years past...but still remarkable in the sweltering heat of our upper deck. As soon as the contest was over, the crowds poured back to the inside bars to cool down.

Hope you are in your mid-summer Christmas spirit. We have hundreds of friends coming to Dewey this weekend from the Running of the Santas organization out of Philadelphia...complete with their Santa suits, hats, and other costumes. Saturday from 2-6pm, Heineken Light will host our annual Rudolph's Revenge party with the live music of Jimi Smooth & the Hit Time, plenty of group house contests, prizes, and general silliness! We will have Santa hats available, and ask you to grab whatever Christmas outfits you can get your hands on during July; prizes will be awarded all afternoon on costumes and competitions! Be sure to join us and our incredibly fun friends from Running of the Santas this Saturday at 2pm!
