STARBOARD MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND 2011!

IT'S HERE! The weekend we all await through those cold winter months has finally arrived. We have worked as hard as ever this winter to get The Starboard improved and ready for another fabulous summer with all of you. As the craziness of Memorial Day arrives, I want to take a minute to thank the huge loyal customer base we have here at The Starboard. Everyone is excited as the summer begins; I hope you can each appreciate the things we have done to keep Starboard atop the bar/restaurant world here in Dewey Beach!

Our commitment to excellence in Dewey doesn't waver, we continue to have the greatest bar staff in town, most of them have been here for close to a decade and still serve you the best drinks you will find! We have upgraded our menus and look forward to doing all we can to feed you top quality food and beverages while enjoying your time in Dewey Beach. Nobody can blast as much air conditioning as we have at The Starboard and we have replaced and upgraded our entire sound system to have the best sounding system ever! We now carry 12 individual DIRECTV satellites so you can view most any game throughout the year with us. And of course, the 36 High Definition TV's in this place keep us ahead of the curve on televisions, too!

At The Starboard, we carry only top quality liquor choices for you...you won't find any plastic bottle rail booze behind our bars!! Smirnoff is our house brand, and you can find Absolut, Stoli, Grey Goose, Three Olives, Belvedere, Ketel One, Hangar One, etc. at all our bars! The beer selection cannot be matched, from Miller Lite, Bud Light, Coors Light, to Dogfish, Hoegaarden, Heineken, Blue Moon, Evolution, Magic Hat, etc.... We have a huge selection for ya!

And did I mention...NO COVER CHARGE...EVER!! Even for G.LOVE this summer, we refuse to ever charge you to come enjoy your time at The Starboard! That being said...fair warning about the long lines to get in...If you want to come enjoy The Starboard, you had best get here early!

I am happy to launch our new Watermelon Crushes this weekend. They are absolutely delicious...after many hours of taste testing...I can personally promise these watermelon drinks are delightful! As if our #1 selling orange crushes & grapefruit crushes didn't fulfill....we now add the watermelon crush to our inventory.

2010 was the second year in a row that The Starboard is TOPS in The UNITED STATES of AMERICA for sales of Absolut Ruby Red Vodka...meaning nobody in the USA sells more Grapefruit crushes than we do here!

The top two distributors in Delaware have also informed us here at The Starboard that we were #1 for both of their companies in 2010 for liquor sales...meaning nobody in the state of Delaware outsold The Starboard in cocktails for the year! Wow...just shows what an incredibly loyal customer base we have here! Thanks so much to each of you for incredible support!

Steve will have VIP cards readily available beginning at 7pm tonight at Portside, and more than likely out of stock before 10pm, hope you can swing by for a cold one!

Every year Memorial Day Sunday is our single biggest sales day of the year. It is an incredible scene to see a place so packed full by 9:30am. While most people are just waking up around town, The Starboard is full blown in 5th gear. I walk in thinking, "This is Insane" every year! We do our best to take care of each of you this day, but warn that the line to get in the place wraps around the building early in the morning...so plan your day accordingly. Doug Segree will be on the deck all afternoon, and then LAURALEA will be in house that night for another NO COVER show on Sunday night. Bloody Marys, Red Bulls, and Crushes will be flowing from open till close! Being that we are so busy this day, we will offer a breakfast station out in our parking lot as everyone needs to start their day with some good nutrition....please grab a breakfast croissant stuffed with eggs, sausage, and cheese on your way in!

I have a full supply of bottled water and Danishes to do my best to feed anyone waiting in line on Sunday morning...appreciate your understanding on any waits and hope you have the most fun ever inside The Starboard!

The weather will be HOT, HOT & HOT all weekend, drive safely on your way to Dewey Beach. There has been some major construction to control flooding back on Bayard Avenue behind The Starboard area...not sure if parking will be allowed back there or not this weekend as the ground is very soft. There is always plenty of parking on the northern end of town so you may have to drive around a bit but we should have room in town for all cars. Parking permits are available down at our Town Hall, either daily, weekends, or for the season. They are steep ($200/season), in a town with no property taxes, the parking permits are one of the only stable source of revenue this town brings in.

	For those of you with your 2011 VIP cards, we will have our normal VIP entrance open for you as much as we can this weekend. It's tough to use that entrance during the morning hours as we are busy serving breakfast in that room, but will do our best to keep things moving. For those with Insider VIP cards from a year ago, they will be honored at the North side VIP entrance, near the DJ booth. We may also use that entrance from time to time for all VIP cards, depending on the situation. Regardless...if you have a VIP card, you should be fine to get in here this weekend...though Sunday morning is always tough. Thanks for being a Starboard VIP, and for working with us on this crazy weekend of huge crowds!

	Did I mention how The Starboard will again continue our policy of NO COVER CHARGES?

	Starboard TV is back again this year for another excellent year of footage on your Starboard staff, a behind the scenes look at this iconic establishment, and plenty of laughs as the summer plays out. Would love you to "bookmark" www.TheStarboard.TV and check out our weekly coverage as we keep this fresh and current each week of the summer season. We will also offer the only way left to secure a Starboard 2011 VIP card on Starboard TV...hit our Web TV for any info on additional VIP cards! Filming for Starboard TV will go on throughout this weekend; once again I remind all that this filming is of our staff, not of our customers while here partying. Unless you sign a waiver and ask to be a part of Starboard TV, you will not be on the footage. That being said, if you want to be a part of it, interview some crazy story about The Starboard, just ask!

STARBOARD, LIGHTHOUSE, NALU PAY FOR EXTRA POLICE THIS WEEKEND

	As we did a year ago, The Starboard, Lighthouse/ Cove/Que Pasa, and Nalu have all ponied up over $6,000.00 this weekend to bring in 10 additional full time police officers from surrounding jurisdictions to help control the streets on this overwhelming weekend. These officers are a way for us businesses to give back to the property owners by bringing in additional forces to provide safe streets, help control street noise, and any issues in the neighborhoods of Dewey. They are NOT brought in to ticket, or be harassing towards our visitors. With up to 35,000 people coming to Dewey for the weekend, the extra officers will help show a presence for those 'not so nice' folks that could give our great customers a bad name!
