The countdown has been on for weeks...the excitement is definitely building...it's time to get serious about the greatest weekend of the year...STARBOARD OPENING!
The parking lot will be TENTED IN as usual, making room to handle the crowds heading this way in celebration of The Starboard! I am quite positive you are all going to be extremely pleased with some of the changes made over our winter 'break'... while not exactly a break cause several of us have been here regularly making upgrades so The Starboard can continue to be the pace car of restaurant and bar business in Dewey Beach!
 Our new 70" High Definition TV additions will be a welcome sight for NCAA B-Ball fans over Opening Weekend. Plus, 16 new 28" Digital photo displays with constantly updated slide shows, specials info, and entertainment listings will be fun for all to keep up with Starboard activities. We have rebuilt a few of our outside bars, completely renovated and upgraded our menus with plenty of exciting new menu items for you to enjoy. Both our Breakfast and Lunch menus have lots of new items! The Cheesesteak and Egg Sandwich will surely be a favorite, as will the lump crabmeat Mac & Cheese or the homemade Cincinnati chili served over Mac & Cheese.
Our inside bars will feature a new Perlick top notch draft system carrying TWELVE micro/craft beers for you to enjoy. All of our local beers from Dogfish to 16 Mile and Evolution, plus Yards, Long Trail, Troegs, Sam Adams Seasonal and Magic Hat #9 are now available on ice cold draft at The Starboard.
 We will welcome some NEW bar staff to The Starboard on opening weekend, most all of you are sure to be happy with these additions. Musky, a local Dewey Beach Lifeguard and longtime bartender down the street at McShea's has come to join The Starboard behind the main inside bar. We'll also be welcoming Meghan, who has been at the Summer House for years. These two are a load of fun and will help to continue making The Starboard bar staff the best at the beach! As for Opening Weekend, we can welcome back some 'alumni' as well, with Tracy Morgan working outside in our tented bars, and Dee Dee back for a weekend inside the dining room bar. It's always fun to welcome back faces from the past to help out on these huge weekends. Everyone else should be in their normal positions...while we will surely miss those that have moved on from their Starboard days, we are very excited about our new bartenders and think you will agree. |

We host our local Rehoboth Beach/Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, March 14th...we may stay open after this happy hour for the night to test the waters a bit and make sure all of our upgrades are working properly.
Thursday, March 15th will be our first full day open. Starting with Breakfast, Lunch, then turning into a local's bash with several city folks arriving throughout the night. NCAA action will be started, so get here and make yourself comfortable. DJ John Hardy will dust off the sound equipment and guarantee a great night of fun for all that can make it in early.
Friday, March 16th - VIP Cards arrive! Open for Breakfast, Lunch, and all night...each bartender will be loaded with their share of 2012 VIP Cards. Smoky (who just stopped in and I didn't even recognize after losing 80lbs) will be back in the DJ booth for the night. Let Summer 2012 get underway, as Smoky kicks this place into high speed.
Saturday, March 17th - Seriously. It's St. Patrick's Day at The Starboard...what else matters in the world!? This is always one of our biggest sales days of the year! We have Doug Segree bringing a band into our tented parking lot, mixing in some fine Irish music to go along with our normal Dewey Beach favorites...John Hardy DJ'ing inside all day, and Smoky here all night. VIP Cards available all evening and night. Suggestion.... DO NOT wait too late to get in, as last year the line wrapped up the street and about 3 blocks long by 8:30 pm!!
Sunday, March 18th - KRISTEN IS BACK! Our phenomenal Sunday night acoustic act from the summer of KRISTEN and JOE DAPHNE will be back on stage Sunday afternoon to wind down the incredible weekend. I can't tell you how fortunate we are to welcome Kristen and Joe back again this summer...Sunday nights are going to ROCK this summer! |

As is normally our deal...we will have plenty of our 2012 VIP Cards ready for you over our Opening Weekend. This year we went with the design of the famous Delaware collectors' auto tags. These tags are a huge deal here in Delaware, and you guys are a HUGE deal to us at The Starboard... it made sense to me! For those of you not here for opening, we will have ways for you to get your new VIP cards once we are done with opening weekend, most likely online. |

I continually remind everyone of all the great options here in Dewey when you are not spending your time at The Starboard. We have a few places that have been open all winter long and will be open and stocked up ready for a big weekend during Starboard Opening...it's like a holiday weekend to all in Dewey when The Starboard opens.
Woody's across the street will have plenty of crabcakes for ya. Scully's is stocked and ready for a big St. Patty's day with plenty of Bison Burgers awaiting. Gary's will have the healthy options served up. Hammerheads has their new draft lines and always fun atmosphere. Down the street a little there is a new restaurant next to Nalu open named Whiskey Beach serving BBQ and Karaoke...and of course the famous Lighthouse is always open and hosting a beautiful view of the bay to enjoy! I'm fairly certain McShea's usually opens over St. Patty's, as does Mama Celeste and Wings to Go! We appreciate our Starboard loyal customers supporting those open all winter when you come to town as well as the plethora of hours you already spend here at The Starboard! |
