This time last week as I wrote this newsletter, we weren't sure what we had in store for our weekend as Hurricane Earl was heading our way and the forecasts were unclear what path it would take. Now that we are past the big weekend, I have to tell you it was one of the greatest Labor Day weekends in recent memory. The weather was outstanding, Earl turned out to sea early Friday and spared us of any damages, and it seemed as if the forecasts did not scare anyone away, as we had lines to get in all weekend long. We are now open for 2 more months, Wednesdays through Sundays, so get to the beach if you have the opportunity as we get the best weather of the year during September/October!

Many are asking about our closing party. Though we have two solid months until that gets here, I want to get the date out so you can all make plans. We will close up this place over the weekend of November 5-7th. Hotels fill up for that weekend, you may want to book a room now just to be safe.

We are happy to announce this fall that JEFE will be playing at a few of our other locations. Beginning THIS FRIDAY, if you are in the Baltimore area, join us at PORTSIDE TAVERN on Canton Square for a Jefe Happy Hour. Steve Roop at Portside is there ready to welcome everyone back from a summer at the beach. He has $2 domestics & $3 wine/cocktails for you this Friday. This is a first for Jefe to be at Portside, we just received our Live Music license for Portside a few months ago. We would love to welcome Jefe with a big crowd, so those of you in town that can make it, this Friday afternoon.
Those of you in Arlington can see Jefe several Saturday nights at our FRONT PAGE-ARLINGTON this fall. He will be there at least twice a month on Saturday nights. Every Thursday at the Front Page-Arlington we have Taco Toss with plenty of Dewey Beach people in house to keep the summer vibe rolling. This past weekend The Starboard gave out hundreds of "Free Orange Crush" vouchers for Thursdays at the Front Page. DJ Smoky also gave away 100 gift cards valued at $25 each so hopefully many of you that received them can get over to The Front Page soon. With Hockey season about to kick back in, those of you in that area know where you can find most of the Washington Capitals hanging out....yup, The Front Page!

As the official summer has now come to an end, speaking on behalf of my entire staff here at The Starboard, we want to thank you all so much for the loyalty and dedication you show towards The Starboard and our staff. We are extremely spoiled to have such good friends & good customers that take such great care of us all. Thank you all for that!
Have a very happy & safe September, we are open Wednesday-Sundays from now till we close in November. Hope to see you in at some point!

As is the case every year, we have an election in Dewey approaching in just three short weeks. I do not like to bring politics into this newsletter, however I can certainly offer any of you that own property in town my opinion on who to vote for. There is so much that hits the press, mailings you receive, etc...that's not always accurate. I am involved heavily on Dewey Beach committees and issues, and am happy to help you if you wish with my businessman's view. Just shoot me a quick email to Monty@TheStarboard.com . Your vote will need to be cast soon if you will not be in town to vote September 25th. Trust me, we need your vote to keep this town as great and fun as it has been for so many years!

The numbers of people viewing our first season of Free Starboard TV have been staggering. As most everyone's attention turns away from the beach during the winter months, rest assured we will continue to provide programming of what's going on around Dewey, work here at The Starboard, and some of our staff as they head to their winter destinations. Since our customers are what make The Starboard such a unique place, we need your input! Please email our Starboard TV producer, Tom at Tom@TheBlueWave.net with any suggestions, ideas, or things you would like to see over the coming months and into next summer on Starboard TV.
