Starboard is a Music Hot Spot

The Starboard is synonymous with Dewey Beach and summer vibes. This season, owner Steve “Monty” Montgomery and his staff are gearing up for another unforgettable summer making memories on the decks of the Starboard. While many think of their signature orange crushes and colossal bloody mary bar, Montgomery is quick to note their music scene is bar none the best in Dewey.

With a concert line up that includes Bruce in the USA, G Love, and house staples Kristen and The Noise, and Lauralea and Tripp Fabulous, the Starboard is the best place in Dewey to come and enjoy live music FOR FREE.

“Part of what makes us a great place to see live music is the fact that we never, ever charge a cover.” Montgomery notes that it’s just part of his philosophy to provide music in his establishment. “We want you to come in, get an ice cold drink, and just enjoy yourself.”

It is this laid back vibe that Montgomery and The Starboard embody that has attracted big acts like G. Love. Artists thrive in an environment where they can simply show up and be themselves—accessible to their fans and not beholden to a ticket price. The intimate setting at the Starboard allows for a band to look out and see familiar faces amid a packed house. And for many musicians, that’s what it’s all about.

While the party atmosphere definitely kicks it up a notch, The Starboard is the kind of small town music venue that bands feel at home in. If you haven’t come out to experience a show there, this spring and summer season is the perfect time to come and see what all the buzz is about.
